Terry Teachout Visits The Barnes Foundation

If you have never been to this museum Terry Teachout gives to plenty of reasons to pay a visit. The first thing people usually comment on when they go is just the sheer quantity of art they find:

I found the excessiveness of the Barnes Foundation to be central to its total effect. Seeing a dozen paintings at a single glance may not be the best way to appreciate any of them individually, but it's certainly exciting, even overwhelming, and there's nothing wrong (to put it mildly!) with being overwhelmed by art.
As readers of this space know, the Barnes will be moving to downtown Philadelphia. So another reason to visit is to be able to compare the new space to the old.
