Charter School Standardized Test Scores Released Today
At tonight's meeting of the D.C. Public Charter School Board this year's DC-Cass scores will be released. Early indications are that, unfortunately, the William E. Doar, Jr. PCS for the Performing Arts did not make AYP in either the upper or lower school after making it at both places last year. But it is so confusing to figure out that we will wait for the results to be announced.
Meanwhile Bill Turque at the Washington Post reports on the annual story that students in failing schools under No Child Left Behind have limited options for transferring to a better institution. What he does not mention is my understanding that under the federal law these kids also have the option of attending private schools. Perhaps this choice mechanism was taken out of the final version of the bill. Does anyone know the answer?
