Private Education Is OK For Some
One again, according to Dion Haynes at the Washington Post, the head of D.C. schools is proposing that special education be turned over to a private firm. Maybe by the timing of these suggestions we can tell that Spring is finally on its way.
It just amazes me that politically the word privatization is OK when it refers to those most difficult to teach. But when it is suggested that the gifted, those in the middle of the academic pack, or students who are struggling to keep up be given a voucher to obtain their own private education then the cry is that public education is being destroyed.
