This Honeymoon Is Over

It was supposed to be a routine hearing in front of the D.C. Council. Instead, Michelle Rhee faced a hostile audience as she was angrily questioned about a reported $100 million deficit the school system is facing which council members just learned about on the day of her testimony. The shortfall is due in part to the hiring of unbudgeted employees.

Nikita Stewart of the Washington Post has this to say about the atmosphere at the Wilson Building yesterday:

Council members questioned Rhee's management and what they termed her secrecy.
This comes on the heels of Miss Rhee's surprise announcement regarding the 24 schools she intends to close at the end of this school year. It looks like the fight has just begun.
