Charter School Students Need Not Apply

Normally this article by Theola Labbe of the Washington Post would hardly get my attention. Yes, it's great that George Washington University is giving away full scholarships to 9 public school students to attend their university. I see this story every year. But this time Ms. Labbe mentions that charter school students are not eligible for the Stephen Joel Trachtenberg Award. So, as a GW graduate and chairman of the board of directors of the William E. Doar, Jr. Public Charter School for the Performing Arts, I sent Mr. Trachtenberg an email asking for an explanation. If I get a response I'll post it here.
