That's how long D.C. School Chancellor Michelle Rhee estimates that it will take before real academic improvements will be realized in DCPS. The year will be 2013.
Why are we wasting all of this energy on fixing the traditional public school system?
A report on the charter school movement in the nation's capital by Fight for Children estimated that in only 12 months past this date over half of all students in the city will attend a charter.
To quote from the 2006 study by Gregg Vanourek, "However, it’s not yet clear that either DCPS or the charter sector is prepared for how such a big urban public school system would be governed and run under such a scenario."
Here is where we should be spending our time.
