Primer On Converting To A Charter School
Theola Labbe of the Washington Post provides an instruction booklet today on how a private school converts to being a charter. The comparison she makes looks at the process Paul Junior High had to follow when it converted. But Paul was a public school. Should the procedure be the same for public and private schools that wants to convert to charters? I think not. Private schools should have much more freedom to make the change.
Also, here's a study by Matthew Ladner of the Goldwater Institute showing that catholic schools don't need to hurt by the charter school movement as long as there is a choice program in place that private schools can tap.
