Only Education Reporter In Town

Why, with so much going on with public education in the nation's capital, is there only one reporter at one newspaper consistently covering this topic? Anyway, today Theola Labbe of the Washington Post has two stories in her publication. One concerns the resignation of T.R. Ahlstrom, headmaster and founder of Washington Latin PCS. Mr. Ahlstrom was turned down recently by the D.C. Public Charter School Board in his attempt to move his school into a new much more expensive facility (rent would have jumped from $30,000 to $90,000 a month). I'm so glad that Miss Labbe is taking my advice to report on leadership changes in the charter school world.

Next, she tells us that the city has reached a financial settlement with ex-DCPS Superintendent Clifford Janey. No details were available, which is pretty much the way it was when Mr. Janey was in office.
