The Power Of Competition In Education 

Take a look at this paragraph from today's Washington Post on-line story about the start of new school year for DCPS:

Amanda Alexander, principal of Bunker Hill Elementary in Northeast, had spent time passing out fliers in the neighborhood trying to convince parents to choose Bunker Hill over charter or private schools. About 250 students enrolled, nearly 20 more than officials had expected.
