Let The Reaction To School Competition Begin

Maria Sacchetti of the Boston Globe says that the State Board of Education has a unique proposal for fixing schools that continually fail to improve student test scores - set them free to improve themselves. The Board Chairman has suggested making them pilot schools which are traditional public schools given significant independence in a reaction to charter schools in Boston.

Also today, Theola Labbe of the Washington Post provides the story behind John Thomson Elementary School in downtown D.C. which has increased enrollment by 20% by - marketing the school. Sounds like what we do to attract students to WEDJ.
