One Chartering Authority
As I recently recommended, Dion Haynes of the Washington Post reports that the D.C. School Board will take up a proposal today for them to get out of the chartering business. My favorite quote from the article is this one from retiring board member Tommy Wells:
"I want the board to focus on its core mission -- oversight of the D.C. public schools."Maybe the fact that a school board member does that realize that a charter school is a D.C. public school is what is leading to poor oversight of the schools they have authorized.
