1 DC Chartering Authority

Washington D.C. has 2 bodies which can charter schools. Everyone in the movement knows that the more difficult one to operate under is the D.C Public Charter School Board. (The Doar School was granted its charter under the DCPCSB.) The D.C. School Board can also authorize charter schools. The Washington Post today recommends that only the DCPCSB continue in this role and I have to agree. Especially considering the fact that the School Board has placed a 1 year moratorium on the creation on new charter schools while Superintendent Janey reviews the role of charters in the overall offering of educational choices to parents. Perhaps he should just get rid of traditional schools and turn them all into charters. Wouldn't that be interesting? All D.C. public school employees would then have to re-apply for their jobs.
