Pre-Convention Reading
In preparation for the Republican National Convention the CATO Institute has created a new page dedicated to the "Ownership Society." I will focus my attention on speeches calling for:
>> Increased use of school vouchers
>> Medical savings accounts as a solution for our crises in healthcare (and when it
comes to access our system is in a crises)
>> Social Security privatization (or choice as they are now calling it)
>> Implementation of a flat tax to replace our current federal tax code
Today libertarians can celebrate as Virginia has decided to implement "hot lanes" to reduce congestion on the beltway. It seems we will eventually be able to rent our own highways. It was Robert Poole at the Reason Foundation that came up with this idea 10 or 15 years ago.
This good news is bittersweet as tomorrow we return Amy to NYU to start classes again in the Fall.
