Reaction From The Corcoran
The Washington Post staff member who originally informed me that my letter would be published called me back to let me know that the Corcoran Museum did respond to his question regarding the percentage of the time that "Ground Swell" is available for public viewing. Their answer: 60%. This is a crime for such a famous piece of art that is a draw for visitors from around the world. The gentleman from the Post agreed. But here's the most outrageous part. The Corcoran informed him that if you want to see this painting you have only until this Saturday to do so unless you are willing to wait until 2008. The reason is that between this weekend and then their current exhibit which includes "Ground Swell" is going on tour. I wonder if after my letter is published the museum will mention this fact on the web site.
