Arts Blog?

When I started writing I thought I was creating a political blog. Now it seems that most of my posts are about the art world. Its probably because nothing in public affairs is catching my interest these days. The war in Iraq goes on, the Democrats attack our handling of the country and the Republicans act like everything is perfect.

In Washington D.C. Marion Barry sends a signal that he is going to run for his old Council seat. If he got in that would be another step backwards for our town. He will probably go ahead and run and he will probably win.

The important news is out of Chicago. The Art Institute has moved its late night when it stays open until 8 p.m. to Thursdays instead of Tuesdays. That's a really big deal to me since almost every year I visit this city for the huge radiology convention. Most people attend Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. I usually go to the meeting on Tuesdays and then head off to the museum. (The Art Institute of Chicago may be the best museum in this Country.) Tuesdays there is no admission charge and that will remain the same. But now the building will close at 4:30 p.m. That's bad. I have a great memory of going over there around 6 or 7 p.m and they had classical musicians playing in random locations. You would turn a corner and there was a harpsichordist, another and there was a person playing the violin. I wish I could get those who made the decision to take a look at my blog.
