Baltimore Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport
Donald Schaefer has it right. There is no way that BWI Airport should be named after Thurgood Marshall. Mr. Marshall had no love for Baltimore and the State of Maryland after he was denied admission to the University of Maryland law school because he was black. Of course, he ended up going to Howard University and as an attorney for the NAACP argued Brown vs. The Board of Education before he became a Supreme Court judge.
The University of Maryland invited him over after he was named to the court and he refused. Now the school has named its law library after him, despite his past feelings about them, but I guess this is not enough for those who feel guilty about the past.
